B2C MOBILE APPLICATION — PET NUTRITION

The Petshop · Royal Canin retailer in Libreville

A B2C digital experience for a Royal Canin retailer in Libreville

Creation of an installable e-commerce web application (PWA) for The Petshop, a Royal Canin retail partner in Libreville: shopping journey, mobile money payment, delivery tracking and back-office management.

A B2C digital experience for a Royal Canin retailer in Libreville

Client context

The Petshop is a Royal Canin retail partner in Libreville, Gabon. Specialising in food for dogs and cats, the business previously relied on physical sales and informal orders (phone, messaging apps). In a market where online shopping is growing rapidly — driven by mobile and mobile money payments — a structured e-commerce presence became essential to remain accessible to pet owners in the capital.

Challenge

The challenge was to deliver a genuine online shopping experience tailored to local realities: a complete and well-organised Royal Canin catalogue (several hundred references across dog and cat ranges, by size, breed, age and specific needs), a clear ordering journey, local payment methods (mobile money) and a solution light and fast enough to perform well on mobile and on variable connections. The whole had to remain easy to manage day to day by a non-technical team.

Approach

The project was built iteratively, feature by feature, with constant priority given to mobile user experience and security. Every interface decision (filter organisation, catalogue sorting logic, ordering journey) was thought through, discussed and validated before implementation.

The application was developed as a PWA (Progressive Web App) to offer an experience close to a native app — installation on the home screen, fast loading, smooth operation — without the friction of a store download. Particular attention was paid to business logic: the catalogue is sorted according to a natural buying order (food type, range, pet size, age, packaging) and search works in both French and English to match the way customers actually look for products.

Stack & method

Technical stack

  • Front-end: React 18 + Vite (PWA with service worker)
  • Back-end & database: Supabase (authentication, PostgreSQL database, image storage, row-level security)
  • Hosting & deployment: Vercel (continuous deployment via Git)
  • Transactional emails: dedicated service with authentication (order confirmations, delivery codes)
  • Payment: integration of local payment solutions (mobile money) and bank cards

Method

  • Iterative development by sessions, with documentation and tracking of each evolution
  • UX decisions validated through mock-ups before any development
  • Continuous deployment: every change is automatically pushed to production
  • Security-first approach: sensitive data encrypted, environment variables protected, reinforced authentication

Deliverables

  • A complete and installable e-commerce web application (PWA), accessible on mobile, tablet and desktop
  • A structured product catalogue with advanced filters (by pet, food type, range, size, age) and bilingual French/English search
  • An online ordering system with cart, customer account and tracking
  • An administration interface for managing products, stock, prices and orders
  • Integration of payment methods adapted to the local market
  • A notification system (order confirmations, delivery codes)
  • A technical foundation designed to evolve (feature additions, scalability, future handover to the client)

Results

  • A professional e-commerce presence that extends the Royal Canin experience online and makes the catalogue accessible at any time
  • A clear and simplified ordering journey, from product selection through to payment
  • A catalogue organised around an intuitive buying logic, helping customers quickly find the right product for their pet
  • Autonomous day-to-day management for a non-technical team (product updates, prices, stock, orders)
  • Reduced time and complexity for catalogue updates on the merchant side
  • A solid and secure technical foundation, ready to host new features without a redesign
« This project was designed to bring the Royal Canin experience closer to pet owners in Libreville: more direct access to products, a clear ordering journey and a management tool adapted to local realities. »
